F4 Rotors and bleeding question
F4 Rotors and bleeding question
Hey guys. I took my bike to a shop and they said that I have bent rotors (that's why I hear rubbing sounds). NOW, I have to pump the brakes every time I have to brake... they told me that even after bleeding the brakes I would still have to pump them because of bent rotors. This doesn't really make sense to me... could that be true?
They told me it's pointless to bleed the brakes now if I'm not replacing the rotors.
p.s. I have tried to bleed the brakes myself for like an hour or so... with no luck.

Re: F4 Rotors and bleeding question
to bleed you front brakes, take the top off your master (im assuming you have the F4 front master, and fill it full of fluid (you want the system to have as much fluid as it can) . and literally rapidly pump you brake lever a bunch of times, with the top off, until you start seeing bubbles and it gets harder.
it might take 100-200-300 pumps, depending on how much air is in there, before you see any difference but it will work and you can bleed the **** out of it this way.

If the rotors are bent it will cause that.

Unless your rotors are sooo warped that they grab, dont grab, grab dont grab, then I don't see how they would affect your brakes bleeding
When you ride the bike, how does it feel? Do you feel the front end jolting? Does it jolt constantly? Or only under breaking??
Re: F4 Rotors and bleeding question
It jolts constantly. Can't really hear it till I pull the clutch in and just coast... but I feel the rubbing all the time. The rotors "look" straight, but obviously aren't. The brakes don't grab at all. I have to pump it many times before it grabs.
It's just this technician told me that it'll be this way (regardless of whether I bleed the brakes or not) until I replace the bent rotors. I was wondering if that's true.
I do know how to bleed the brakes, and have tried for about an hour with no luck... soooooo... I'm wondering that he's right.

Re: F4 Rotors and bleeding question
it's true..
Re: F4 Rotors and bleeding question
Thanks for the confirmation. He kind of explained it to me in mechanical terms... something to do with the brake pistons pushing back or what not, but I didn't get it too much... what can I say, I'm not into brakes that much!! Who needs them anyways... I brake with my kickstand.
