03 636, throttle BOGGGGG HELP

would this be because of the TPS sensor (throttle position sensor)

it may be something called a subthrottle actuator valve. it is on the throttle bodies you would just have to replace the whole throttle body assembly. do you have gauges so that you can check for trouble codes

YOU cannot replace them u must take it to a GOOD shop to have it put on.. it is very difficult to dial a tps in... u need to get a compression check and change plugs and check coils etc.. start the bike with the take off but still hooked up and shine a flash light into the t-bodies to check for flooding injector... or clogged injector..

every one i ever changed on a car just had a certain voltage range and it was very simple with a multimeter , is it different on a bike?

Re: 03 636, throttle BOGGGGG HELP

I've done a few in bikes and they all have been simple with a multimeter. They usually have a spec in the service manual for voltage at fully closed and the fully open.

My '03 636 currently sounds exactly like that...

im stumped right now...

I want to adjust the TPS but cant find any info on how to do it... anyone?

What else is going on with the bike right now?

If you just swapped TB's with no success, then your problem might lie elsewhere. It is possible, I guess, to have two bad sets of TB's, but it is unlikely.

Do you still have the stock gauges? Can you check for any ECU codes?
Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
Plug and coil pack condition?
What is the exhaust doing?
Any other weird, seeming unrelated conditions that might be contributing to the problem?

okay, problem one that i jsut discovered was that 2nd set of TB's had a broken TPS... so i swapped all of the sensors (minus TPS) over to the original set of TB's

NOW the secondary butterfly's won't cycle... they wont even open when the bike is running and given gas...

Oh and:
Yes I have the guages, only code is 11 (one long one short)
No there are def no vacuum leaks
Plugs are less than a month old and Coil paks were working great, but that is next after the TB mess is sorted out
Exhaust is clear

Re: 03 636, throttle BOGGGGG HELP

Secondary butterflys not operating is a big problem. The ECU doesn't know what the TB's are operating at.

Let me read a bit and get right back to you.

Re: 03 636, throttle BOGGGGG HELP

Ahh, no worries.

The ECU locks the ignition timing at a fully closed position when it sees the TPS out of the usable range. That would explain the secondary butterflys not operating.

I'll post up the TPS procedures.

Re: 03 636, throttle BOGGGGG HELP

GOT IT... running great now...

I think it was the Secondary Butterfly Acctuator blah blah... but when I swapped TB's the bad TPS was killing me..

So now I have the same TB's with new Seconday accuator and i replaced the two sensors on the top of the TB's too...

Thanks again bro, and im definately saving the TPS adjustment procedure if you post it up so dont think you went and found that for me for no reason!
