just do what OMR said, i usually will poor the entire jug in start it let it get pressure check it and usually u can see the the oil at the bottom of the sight glass then add a lil bit more so its above half way. thats an 06... so i end using 4 1/4 quarts

 

You sure you put the oil in the right place? I bet you filled up your radiator with oil by accident, LOL
