clutch wont disengage. wtf???

i put a new motor in my stunt bike and the ******* clutch won't disengage. i opened it up to look at it and the clutch had fallin apart. put brand new friction plates, steel plates and springs and the damn thing wont work. i even have my clutch adjusted all the way out and it just wont move in gear.
any ideas???

p.s. i thought it was the easy pull mod so i stuck a pry bar on there and pushed it all the forward and it still did nothing. wtf???!!!!!

Re: clutch wont disengage. wtf???

it the cable tight? cause there should be like 1/8-1/4inch of slack. If theres not the problem is probably in you clutch arm mod.

Re: clutch wont disengage. wtf???

i've gone from plenty of slack to no slack with the same result.
i moved the arm as forward as it would go with a pry bar and it still didnt do **** so i didnt think it was the mod.
i'll take off the mod and see what happens. hopefully it fixes the problem.

Im about to do the mod later tonight, do you have a FI cage? cause I was wondering if I can pull that case off without removing the loop on my cage.

Re: clutch wont disengage. wtf???

make sure the clutch puller rod is actually around the puller.......otherwise it will not ever disengage.

no i've got an SI and 3/4 fairings so i have to take half my cage and side fairing off. i left the other side on and it leaned over far enough that i didnt lose any oil.

both. but it use to push around fine in 1st when not running.

i'm bout to head home and get at it. the clutch has been in the motor overnight so maybe some crazy luck the oil freed up what was stuck. if not i'll take the mod off and just keep working my way in til i find it.

when i put the new one in i cleaned the hell out of it.
i just put it all back together with any mods or anything. i'm gonna let the rtv set overnight and then try to get it going tomorrow. i'm hoping since that motor set so long something just needs broken loose.

i know you don't want to hear this but bikes don't usually fix them self , if you just keep dumping it into gear you may break some thing ...

if there is just a little peice of some thing in there that you can take out then i think that would be that best thing to do.....

Re: clutch wont disengage. wtf???

wait a minute i just read some thing you posted ....you say you put it in gear and the bike jumps forward but then stalls , if the clutch were just not dissengaging i would think it would start in gear as long as you had the kickstand up and the clutch lever pulled in so you should try that and see if the bike goes but remember you will not be able to pull in the clutch and roll to a stop you will have to shut the bike off or stall it with the brake

the clutch is disengaging. i can hear/feel the pressure plate moving. i know its a different bike but when i use to let my dirt bike sit all winter i would have to start the bike up and let it run and sit there and pull the clutch in and out until everything worked itself loose. i wont be dumping it into gear, just letting the oil do its thing and massaging the clutch at the same time.
i have an easy pull so my bike wont start in gear... i never bothered doing the wiring because i dont want my bike to try and take off if i start it in gear.

Do you do idle wheelies?

If so, say good by tranny!

Sooo hard on the shift dogs, slamming it into 1st gear after you kill it, with 3,500 idle..

First thing I do to anyones bike with a ez pull, splice the clutch wires, that way they aren't grinding gears everytime they start it.

well for the sake of this problem just make it so it starts in gear for now and you can put it back later it is alot easier then taking the bike apart if you can ride it around and change gears then you know the tranny is ok and it's deffinetly in the clutch

well i just moved last week and had to ride it from the old house to the new house. if i start moving it and click it into 1st i'm fine. i rode it 15 miles to the new house with no problems other then red lights. lol. but i could shift fine, i never use my clutch to shift anyways.
but that clutch was toast, so i replaced it and still have the same problem. i havent had a chance to mess with it today but after work i'm just gonna try the dirt bike trick.
