F4i Ignition resistor

joe_berkey is an unknown quantity at this point
F4i Ignition resistor

Does anyone know what resistor is in the ignition. I toasted mine and dont want to have to buy a whole new ignition. I say something that siad that it was 2.2k but I dont know if that is correct and I cant find a good one to test.

i would think the value would be printed on the old one

resistors don't quite work that way... it's almost like a code... the colored stripes on them will tell you what the resistance is, and the size of it's body is how you can determine how many watts it is...

is that an industry standard ?

like any company selling resisters will have the same size and color for a certain value ?

for the most part, yes... every now and then you will run into a bag of douche company that tries to avoid the inevitable reverse engineering, but that's not very common in my experience...

I tried to read the strips, but mine is screwed up. It is partially melted so I cant see the strips anymore. I the resistor of my friends 636 but I had no luck. Anyone got a cheap ignition? If the key is missing or f ed up that dont matter I just want the wiring part.
