how do i determine pitch??

i have a sprocket that a guy is interested in getting from me but i'm not sure of the pitch. it's a +14 steel sprocket that's on an f4i. how can i determine the pitch? is there a width that i should measure?

i can usually tell by just looking at it... but it could be a problem if your not familiar with sizes... 520 small 525 medium 530 fat boy... measure it (sprocket thickness) and compare to a stock (525 is a stock f4i) and if its wider then its 530, thinner then it 520

Re: how do i determine pitch??

if you got a dial caliper measure it up and I can compare it to the 525 I have sitting on my shelf

Re: how do i determine pitch??

well, i looked at the chain and it's an EK525, so that pretty much tells me it's a 525. it seems to fit PERFECTLY but could it be possible to fit a 525 chain on a 520 sprocket?

Re-micks: thanks, i'm gonna do the comparison deal.

Tanus: I'm gonna try the first method. if i dont feel comfy with my findings, i'll borrow a dial caliper and measure it and let u know.

thanks for the help, fellas.
