F4i cutting out and dying??

I am having trouble with my f4i. After it warms up it starts cutting out and eventually will just die. I am not getting any fi readings on the gauge. Any ideas would be helpful.

Nobody has an ideas?? It usually wont start doing it until after you get it high in the rpms. Then it will sit there and fluxuate like 3k rpms while its running and sometime just die.

+1 or it sounds like a fuel problem.

My bike just had a similiar problem, except mine ran great. Just wouldnt hold idle for chit.....Check ur battery connections and then your fuel pressure regulator....Although that wasnt my problem, its usually the first things to look at.......Stuck injector which fouled plugs was my original problem......My dumbazz changed the plugs but didnt screw #2 all the way back in and left the coild pack NOT snapped down....This caused it to run like chit, LoL.......Vacuum hose on ur fuel pressure regulator. Check it and make sure theres no gas in it. If there is, change the FPR....That vacuum hose will flood #2 and #3 with gas when the FPR starts going out...=-)

Re: F4i cutting out and dying??

Ive done all the basic charging system test regulator, stator, and checked the battery. It seems to me like a fuel problem too. I just thought anything that had to do with the fuel would come up on the gauge. I haven't checked the fuel pressure regulator though. I will try that, and you can restart it when it dies. Thanks for the ideas...

The FPR is notorious for going out on the F4i's. Also its a problem that will NOT spit codes out on the FI light....So if its not spitting codes and its not holding idle....I would definately look at the FPR....=-)

It definitely sounds like that might be it. I have an extra one, so I am going to stick that on there as soon as i get a chance. I am just wondering if that would also cause it to die.

Re: F4i cutting out and dying??

Still having issues? If you've checked all your connections already then recheck your idle. Does your bike idle fine until it warms up and then die out? I had the threads on my throttle body adjustment cable strip out. The vibrations would cause the adjuster cable to rattle free and the bike would just die because the idle was hosed. If the cable is fine and idle is adjusted right then, like mentioned earlier, I would check the fuel pressure regulator. If that's good then you could synchronize the valves on your throttle body. That sometimes will clear up roughness. If you do that and still no luck then you might wanna check the wax idle unit.

Check all the easiest things first. Usually it's something small and simple.
