Re: 636 ignition

Can you really bypass it?

You can use the 05-06 ignition as well, but you've gotta take the wiring out of the 03-04 and put it into the 05-06 one as the plugs are different, but the clicker plastic deal on the end is the same.

it is bypassed right now. The part with the key had been removed so you just use a screw driver to start it. But i dont think that will pass a safety inspection.

2 little torx saftey bolts and the gray plastic switch assembly comes right out of the bottom of the ignition, then you can just turn that with something.....There is a resistor in the switch assembly and without that proper resitior you cant star the bike, it sends a specific current to the ECU and if its not there it will not start....So if your hot wire it without the switch assembly you need to wire in that resistor aswell....

You can also just swap that switch assembly into a 05/06 636 or zx10 ignition like you suggested....

Your gonna have to figure that out for yourself, I just use the switch or get a new ignition....Never bothered with hot wiring one, but you need that resistor to do it, I know that much.....
