glowing headers/oil cooler

my 04 GSXR 1000 yosh pipes are glowing red ever since i installed my power commander. oh yea and my oil cooler is leaning up against the headers and it melted a portion of the cooler and now it leaks... i tried repositioning the mounting oil cooler brackets...is there anyway to run the bike without the oil cooler? i can't see how much cooling an oil cooler will do if it is used on a stunt bike

yes you can run the bike without an oil cooler. and the red hot pipes are due to a lean condition. you might want to tweak your power commander a little bit or maybe try downloading a different map. not all bikes are the same and those maps that you get off the cd or internet are just a rough estimate.

Yeah, as mentioned above, glowing red pipes means you're running lean as hell. You're gonna want to adjust that before it causes damage.

yeah your too lean like mentioned in the other post....I guess you could remove the oil cooler but it is on there for a reason.....it does help lower themps which may not be a big deal up north....your power commander instructions should tell you what to do about adjusting the fuel air ratio
