Blown head gasket??
Blown head gasket??
Okay so I've had a radiator leak for a while now that has caused my bike to overheat quite a few times. I've been putting coolant in it and keeping it full but as soon as it builds up pressure it starts leaking out pretty quick. I put some pepper in it the other night to see if it would clog the leak. Filled it up with coolant rode it around for about 15 minutes to get it hot and brought it back to the house. It wasn't leaking but when I tried to start it again it sounded like it was only running on 1-2 cylinders and then it started leaking coolant out of the exhaust. Can anyone give me any advice on what this means or wtf happened to my bike?
Re: Blown head gasket??
The pressure buildup in your radiator is caused from cylinder pressure blowing into your cooling jackets. It is a nasty cycle that keeps making itself worse, the hot cyl gases make your coolant even hotter. You said you have overheated it a few times when you take it apart to repair the head gasket make sure you have your cyl head and cyl checked by a macine shop for warpage. If it is that bad that coolant is actually running out your exhaust you either blew out a chunk of the gasket or warped a head or cyl.
