Question about fluid top off

I got a 02 gsxr 600 and have a small seal leak. I plan on getting it fixed soon. I noticed the fork compressing a little futher than normal so i want to add some fluid to it. Now as i understand all you have to do is loosen the top tree and unscrew the top of the fork. 3 questions i have should i have the bike raised so there is no pressure on the forks, will this thing pop up at me when i unscrew it and how hard is it to put back on. I imagine there is some pressure on it by the spring. The last time i did this with my katana the top poped up about a foot and took alot of work to put back in.

Re: Question about fluid top off

yes support the front of the bike and turn your preload settings all the way out[the big threaded part on top of the fork] and it should be very easy ,but i would clean the seals or change the seals if cleaning it didn't work
