Try this

i have a 2000 750, when I first started I would go slow and just slam it and lean forward, until the back wheel comes off the ground. Once you get a feel for how hard you have to hit the brake gradually go faster, as for your tire sliding problem shift your weight forward as soon as you hit the brakes and it will cause the front tire to grab and the rear to come up then you put your weight over the front forks with your *** off of the seat a few inches and roll it. But the biggest thing is just practice.

I had that same prob(i am sure like everyone has) Here is what I did to avoid that situation.
got rid of the stock tire, get a better tire
is the pavement free of road dust?
simply go faster, trying to do an endo at 10mph is harder than doing one at 35
and most importantly load up the front end before you lift up the rear end, apply a small amount of brake to compress the bike all the way onto the front end(compress the forks)

P.S. there is a screw at the bottom of the forks, facing the motor. 4 clicks to the H side helps big time!(on each side)

I can only do endo's about 100 feet but this is what I have learned so far. Later.
