Cutting a 636 can

On the 03-04, some say it can be done, some say it can't. I wanted to take it right down to the rubber strap and re-rivet the cap back on. Now I'm pretty sure the tubing inside these things is fucked, but can anyone confirm that I can or cannot do this?

Re: Cutting a 636 can

thanks wheeliest.. I like the look of shorty cans which is why I wanted to cut it so short... one question for you though. You say to cut off 4 inches and it will work. Is that the max you can do? or is there room to cut off more?

Re: Cutting a 636 can

well #1 i don't go for looks.. i go for usefulness... if u cut it to short you lose low end power... and gain noise, noise gets attention, police attention. so do 4 inchs.. it wont hit when u scrape and you wont loose much power.

Re: Cutting a 636 can

I have a few stock exhausts.1 is shortened and it sounds like the devil having his ***** ripped off.the other stock pipe has the tip cut off.Nice low end power but these stock pipes get really really hot!!!!! I bet I could cook a hamburger on that thing.LOL Right now I have a shorty Muzzy on there and it is kinda loud.Might shorten the midpipe on the stock one and wrap that bitch with some heat tape!!
