ya you need to drill the head off pull ignition out and then use a set of vise grips and unscruw the rest of the stud

Re: Removing ignition on 636

Before ya mangled the bolt heads, they were star bit heads that ya coulda bought at sears or autozone.

Now ya have to drill em out.

Re: Removing ignition on 636

Jesus, I've used my normal star bits like 2 times. You'd figure their lack of popularity would be security enough.

THEY WERE NOT TORX OR STAR

Re: Removing ignition on 636

I think honda uses bols that have round ends. best way to take that out is to take torx that is just little too big, hammer it in to the round bolt end, and turn it open. no drilling needed. If you find the correct torx size it's easy.

the bolt is not torx, but torx key can be hammered in to it.

correct Yamaha and Kawi use a special bolt where the head shears off when torqued down enough, the only way to remove them is to drill them out...

Use a small bit to drill a pilot hole, then use a bigger bit ....And use lots of oil

Re: Removing ignition on 636

Wow you all are making this way to hard. Take a dremel tool with a cutting wheel on it. Grind down into to top of the bolt making a slot in it. "make sure it's kinda deep" Use a flat head screwdriver and remove bolt. Little trick used to remove tps sensors on the throttle body of honda cars. It will work trust me.
