f4i oil leakage problem.

after installed my oil pickup my f4i has been leaking oil from the oil pan. my question is, is it supposed to be a metal to metal contact for the oil pan to seal? i used a silicon based gasket sealer and that didnt seem to work. Any mechanics know a solution?

get some stuff called hondabond, run a small beed of it arround your oil pan, make sure u go on the inside and out side of the bolt pant holes, and let the hondabond dry for 20-30 minutes, then install pan hand tight, then tighten the bitch up.

what color was the stuff you removed if it was black or gray it was silicon if the was clear or rediss it was enarobic sealer if so use the stuff made by loctite in the blue tube if it was silicon just buy some right stuff most upper end parts store got it it usally comes in a cheese whiz can get it relly dry with brake clean and a small bead will do you if you use to much it will get in the pan and wind up on that new pick up hope I helped

Re: f4i oil leakage problem.

just use high temp oil resistant gasket maker......clean the engine surface and the oil pan surface super good so there both smooth and wipe down with brake cleaner or alcohol to get off any oil residue. Put a nice size bead of silicone/gasket maker on the oil pan and around the bolt holes. Slide the oil pan on perfectly straight without sliding all around on the engine so you get a good seal. Tighten all the bolts up in a criss cross pattern and let the silcone/gasket cure for 24 hrs before you put oil back in and run the bike.

I have never had a problem doing it like this if you take your time..

Re: f4i oil leakage problem.

cheap *** stuff, hondabond = best... it never hardens and u can let it DRY before u place the pan on and u can start the bike an hour after u apply it as a gasket. none this 24hour bs silicon autozone crap

This **** is the ****, i use it for every thing, oil pan, stator covers, clutch covers, never had a leak or issue with it. i've even started the bike ten minutes after stator cover change... not letting it cure..

$8 a tube well worth it, never buy a gasket again.
