oil level question again...

ok, I just noticed yesterday that my oil light comes on after 12ing...I have it overfilled but don't know exactly how much. On a reader stick it's like 0.3 inch over maximum (I don't screw in the stick just put it in, turn counterclockwise once to wet both sides and get it out)...when I put the oil I didn't meassure how much was in till max. so I don't know how much 1/4 of it would be...should the oil light come on anyway or does this mean it needs more? Oh yeah, it's '94 900rr...

i suggest you put in a little bit more, or make an oil pickup yourself (which is what i did.) take the exhaustheaders off, drain the oil, take of the oilpan and take out the oilpickup. duplicate that pickup but leave away the mushroom-formed part and replace it with a tube that goes to the bak of the oil pan. problem solved..

another idea......not necessarily a great one.....would be to put black electrical tape over the oil light! hahaha

i like the oil pickup idea!....now can you make one that swings forward and to the sides depending on which way your bike is leaning? Would be sweet to have one that works in endos, 12'ing, and when layed on the side!

Re: oil level question again...

thanks Alex! I'm going to do that over the winter but till then run more oil...

@eazenutz: I like the idea, but too complicated for my taste...simple pickup should work just fine I guess...

worked fine on my 900rr! go ahead and do it, if you know someone who can weld the 2 pieces of pipe in a 90 degree angle its real easy. and use the rubber and clip from the original pickup (you'll see what i mean once you take it out!)

Re: oil level question again...

yeah, think I understand what your talking about...the original pickup goes vertical down, and I just weld the other piece at 90 degrees so it goes lets say horizontal to the back...right?
