first of all I have an 01 929rr. here's the symptoms; first it started kinda hard, then when I was cruisin down the road, my electronics shut down so I pulled off the road then realized that I wasn't gettin any power and my battery died-my fuel pump then died and so did my bike. I came to the conclusion that my stator went out so it's not recharging my battery and my battery eventually went dead as a result.

a) my stator really is bad and need to replace it--how do I get to the stator and what is involved in it's removal and replacement

b) there's something else that causes the same symptoms--how do I check to see if it's the stator that's bad or this other "something else"? if it is the other thing, how do I go about removing and replacing that?

uhh...it could be ur stator, your rectifier or maybe some bad wiring..

to find your stator u ........grab stare at the kickstand and then look swiftly up at the motor..the first engine case u will see hides the stator...a few bolts and the cover is off and then u just pop off the connector that is on the stator and thats just about it. a lil rtv or if ur really cool u can get the gasket from honda and its all back together.

 

cool. what's the need for the rtv? is there oil in there or somethin? I wouldn't think that something that produces electricity would be submerged in oil
