Question Replacing Back Pads

How do I replace the rear back pads on a GSXR 600 06? If you could can you give me step by step instructions on this so I can do it myself and know how in the future.....

Re: Replacing Back Pads

Its pretty much the same on all bikes......remove the back wheel, then the caliper will polly be on a bracket( may or may not be bolted to the swingarm,I haven't seen the new gixxers). then look at the caliper and see whats holding the pads in( polly one or two pins and a clip). Take them out and put the new ones in. then do the reverse to reinstall.....its acctually pretty easy.

OOOHHHH remember to use lock tight on the bolts when putting it back together

Re: Replacing Back Pads

eeerm you dont have to take out the rear wheel man! just push the pads away from the rotor with a flat screwdriver, unbolt the rod that holds the pads and take them out!

Cool Re: Replacing Back Pads

I pull the rear caliper off the bike by removing the 2, 12mm bolts that secure the caliper to the bracket. Use a flat blade screwdriver and spread the pads apart (assuming you are changing them anyways). Look at the caliper side that faces out, you will noticed a allen screw that goes through the 2 pads and a spring plate remove that screw and everything should fall out.
Install the new pads and spring. (the spring plate only goes in one way). align the pads so they are parallel with the pistons and reassemble onto the bike. I think the torque specs for the 12mm bolts are 18 ft lbs. (that's what they are for my bike)
