Brake pads??anyone had this problem?

Here is the problem.12's killed my stock brakes.I needed the brake pads and all they had was EBC's in stock.I know most people run HH's but the didn't have them.Well in the process of changing the pads I messed up the seal in the caliper. Not knowing this I went out and tryed a 12 and the brakes didn't totally work and back I came.So I rebuild the caliper and and went back out...the brakes work and they lock up the tire but when I brought it back again they slowwed it down but didn't totally bring the front back down and back it came again. So has anyone had any problem with regular EBC's not grabing right on the rotor??I rode like this for a while and they seem to be working alittle better since there broken in more.....But since I came back 2 times I'm leary about bringing it back all the way. What the hell,is this mental or is it my machine???

I gotta agree with Paul...
You shouldn't do any highspped or hard braking for about 100-200miles. If you think the pads are glazed take them out run some sand paper lightly over them dust em off and re install.
good luck

Stock vs EBC vs other crap

I have a '01 929RR. I changed my pads at about 10K miles to some EBC fronts. My brakes were terrible. I got vibration and all kinds of problems. The problem was so bad that I thought I had done something bad to the calipers. They were even vibrating under heavy braking. It was really bad. I was wondering what I could have done to deserve having messed up my brakes just by changing the pads.

So just to try to backtrack, I ordered the OEM honda brake pads. You know .. just to see if I could get closer to the way they were when I bought the bike (IE: phenomenal). What do you know? They were 100% as good as my brakes as they were brand new!

Long story short: I will never ever trust any brake pads besides the OEM's. Right now, my back brakes are terrible too as I still have the EBC's on the rear. I'm going OEM on those any day now. I'm then going to drill through my left passenger pegs and have a go at 12's myself.

This may only hold true for Honda '01 929 .. but take it from me: the stock brakes on the '01 929 are bitchin'. Don't change a thing.

The correlary is that pads can make a huge difference .. to the point that it can make it seem like something is wrong somewhere else!!
