Re: steering bearings

hold your front brake and rock the bike back n forth while tighting it, or install the tripple, then forks, then wheel

Re: steering bearings

pretty much when i come to a stop there is a popping sound in the neck. & when i pull back on bike with brake applied it pops again. do you think they could just be loose?

Re: steering bearings

dont ride too much with the steering neck nuts loose , ur bearings wont last long.
and you can get aftermarket spherical (sp.)? bearings called All Ballz they are like $40 from dennis kirk way stronger than stock

Re: steering bearings

u popped the top tripple clamp bridge off right (ignition is bolted to this piece) and tighten'd loosen'd the 2 lock nuts and tighten'd the main bearing cup correct? not just the one nut ontop the tripple?

send me a pm and i'll give u my phone number and walk you through the process if you want, its pretty easy, i will try to explain here first for you though.

#1: Take the top tripple bridge off (ignition holder) u gotta loosen up the bolts on the left n right that clamp onto the forks and the center nut.

#2: Now under there is a thin spacer/locker inbetween two spanner nuts, bend the
lock notches straight then take off the two spanner nuts. (screw driver "flat head"+ hamer + chizzle effect) will work with removing these spanner nuts

#3: Now the best bet is to susspend the front in the air with tie downs warped arround the front of the frame on both sides then lift the front wheel off the ground from the celling.

#4: now have a friend stand infront of the bike bent down holding the front wheel firmly pushing back and forth while lifting the front wheel and u chizzle tighten the lower spanner cup till u worked out the play in the stem and tighten it just alittle over that.

Its best to have a friend that puts alot of effort into things to help you with this, cause it sucks putting everything back together and then testing it and it clicking again.
