3 cyl 750?

Okay.. I blew my engine on the 7fiddy. I put a rod through the block.

Now.. It's only one rod... if I cut it out with a torch, weld a plate over the hole, and fill it back up with oil, who thinks it'll still run good enough to get me through the season? (I'm serious.)

Thoughts, opinions... 2000 GSXR 750 motors for sale?

Re: 3 cyl 750?

problem with that is, the other cylinders will pressurize the crankcase, but since there is no piston in the 4th hole, pressure and oil will blow out the exhaust-lol-It will POUR oil out the header, and probably catch fire. It won't work AT ALL without a piston in that hole.

Re: 3 cyl 750?

btw-i have a parts 03 750 engine, had a knock, good cases/most rods are good-im sure you can build one engine out of two if you buy some bearings/gaskets and have the crank polished-good numbers/tranny/etc-LMK-

So what I hear from this is that, I can now have a bike that shoots flaming oil out of the exhaust! Sweet!...

okay maybe not then.. I'll keep the parts motor in mind.

Re: 3 cyl 750?

might run pretty damn well, just try to get to the bolts for the con rod and see if you cant take it completly out. also if you keep the piston in the cylinder I dunno hit it with a tack or some JB weld, it wont spit any oil at the valves. GOLDEN idea, post video!!!

are you saving yourself the trouble of taking the motor apart or the cost of the con rod?

Re: 3 cyl 750?

i think at best the rest of the connecting rod in there will unbalance the motor badly and tear itself apart

lol, both I guess.. I don't know what caused the rod to break out, I just figured the motor is pretty much toast... I rebuilt my g/f's ex500 engine with a spun bearing once with help from a crazy Russian buddy, and it didn't last more than a few rides... We did use a modified bearing from a Honda Civic though. :YEAH

Yea, I was afraid of that too... I think I'm gonna try and see how long it lasts though. Hey, you got an extra engine hanging around?
