F4i Trouble

Have a 2001 F4i.. stock exhaust.. was running fine and then had a total loss of power. The bike would accelerate and stay constant but lacked any kind of pick up. On the way back from when the problem started, the bike would have to be revved at stop lights to keep from stalling and finally by the time I got home, the bike turn over only if I applied Wide Open Throttle. Any suggestions? I know it isn't the plugs.. just had brand new plugs put in. Clogged Injectors? The fuel pump turns on when the bike is turned on.. clogged fuel filter? Heard it could be the fuel pressure regulator.. any idea on how to check that? Thanks in advance.

Re: F4i Trouble

there is no fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump just operates at a constant pressure on it's own.

sounds to me like the bike might not be charging enough. what do the plugs look like when you pulled htem out? is the battery dying when you try to start it?

Re: F4i Trouble

there is a fuel pressure regulator, mine was broken and was flooding the middle to cylinders.

the pressure reg. is on the fuel rail, on the clutch side of the bike, like 50 bucks

Re: F4i Trouble

When my fuel pressure regulator went out it would bog real bad and studder in low rpms then once it got to higher rpms it would finally go. Try doing the header test and see if the center to headers are even getting a chance to fire....if the plugs are flooded out it will be the fuel pressure regulator.
