What to do with this cage.
What to do with this cage.
Hej peepz,
Someone made a cage for me and I made some pics off it:

But after seeing the pics I'm not completely convinced about the strength of the construction. Maybe someon can give me advice? The reason we I wanted the cage so wide is because I don't want to get it flipped over and smash my mirrors, clip ons etc. But I am afraid that when I crash now the whole weight of the bike will be smashed on the upper parts of the cage and damage my frame (in stead of the whole cage absorbing the crash)
What shall I do?

Leave it like this, test is and screw my frame.
Shorten it and saw it at the redline: still a little bit protected from flipping over but also let the cage absorb more of the crash.
Completely get rid of the side pipes (saw it at the green points): but then I am afraid it flips to easy.
Maybe someone with experience in crashing can help me out.
Sorry for being such a pvssy with flipping it over, but I don't want a stuntbike, shopbike, racebike, pimpbike and things like that. I just have the money for one nice bike and do everything with it.

My faovrite line reguarding this subject:
Randon person who wants to wheelie: "Can you teach me to stunt?"
Ed LEGION: "Sure, kick your bike over"
Random: "HELL NO, WTF, why?"
Ed Legion: "K, your not ready to learn, cause your bike is GOING to get effed up eventually, so when you can kick your bike over and be cool with it ill teach you"

Re: What to do with this cage.
cages are not made to protect ur upper and mirrors...their mainly so u dont smash ur engine to pieces..people all of a sudden think a cage protects the whole bike it doesnt..if ur scared of sending ur bike tumbling and ****ing something up then yeah stunt riding aint for u.
Re: What to do with this cage.
Well, there's a difference between smashing the **** out of your bike or just protect your bike as good as possible. That's why most people buy crashcages, to protect the engine and to have no great damage. I understand that above people don't have any protection on their bike, "because it is part of stuntriding" ....
But thanks for helping ontopic anyhow.
Oh just in case: I'm ready for stuntriding, already practicing and already accepted that it will crash anyway...\
Well, that makes sense. Throw a way a good looking and strong cage cauz it's looking "cheap". Sure.

Im no cage master by far, but it seems that a cage like that might benefit from a loop like on the F.I. attached on the font of that cage's oval shape. But it might look tack and overdone and most likely wont produce good results.
Re: What to do with this cage.
I'm sure surprised why most people just buy those cages and not letting them make cheaper by a friend or so. These cages are also just inches away from the fairing and motorblock and nearly not protecting for flipping over.
But I understand not everyone cares about that.
I decided that the first time I put on the cage back I'll get rid of the long pipes on the left and right and only let the cageprotectors/rubber be there. Will look a little better and protect the best way I think.
