Rattling sound at 5000 rpms on the Gixxer

My bike just started making a weird rattling sound coming from under the tank at 5000rpms in any gear. It's an 04 GSXR 6000 with 8000 hard miles on it. Could it be the cam chain tensioner and should I worry about a little rattle?

I haven't heard this too much on the 04's but from 01-03 Gixxers were infamous with the dam cam chain tensioner.

Get a MANUAL one, not and OEM Automatic and have someone do it that knows what they are doing. This is the best advise I can give you since I had two gixxers and both had these issues. You will never have problems after that.

My boy had three replaced on his F4i with OEM each time, every season. After the manual one was installed he has been fine.

Are you running a cage on this bike ? My 02 750 with a fi cage at 5000 to 5300 would make a sound like the top end was coming out of it . One wrap of el. tape on the delrin tip and 3/4 rubber hose cut to lenghth pushing off of the engine mount bolts against the back of the tips made mine smooth right out.
