check it out, you take a stock stabilizer, I used a GSXR, and pour the thin fluid out and put in some gear oil, I used 70w-140w, its a ROCK HARD,really consistent damper. I just tried mine out today, it feels real real good.

the way I filled it and bled it- I removed the fill screw, and I took a section of vacuum hose and slipped it over the fill hole and fed in the gear lube so it always had fluid available to be sucked in, it would never suc'k in air.
the trick to bleeding it, is to move the piston incredibly slow, if you move it fast, it displaces the fluid.

The piston attaches to a hole in my triple, and I made a bracket that reaches off to the side to anchor the damper.(front tank mount bolts)
I used 3/8" thick steel, real thick steel but its still got a tiny bit of flex, be sure to use the thickest steel you got

 

For some reason poor people keep getting hurt
I wouldn't want to mess with a dampener

 

r1 dampers work really well too, i would use the frame hole in the neck of the f4i to mount up the damper and then get a fork mount kit for the piston.

I've done that with a gixxer damper. Tony D actually did it for me. Used 12 weight fork oil......don't know about using gear oil. That seems rather overkill to me.

 

Yeah, I've talked to a few people running 15 or 20w fork oil in their stock dampers...they seem to swear by it.

 

I did that on my 95 Gixxer 750. Used the thing they give you to clean out your gums when yo uget you r wisdom teeth out to fill the damper.

i tried it before a long time ago and never noticed much of a difference.. i probably screwed up though.

once you get used to having an easily adjustable damper though your hooked.
its really nice to be able to turn off the damper for circles, turn it tight for stoppies all with the flick of a finger.

I use industrial strength rubber bands from each fork tube back to the frame slider part on the cage. Also makes for a great place to put my gloves when I'm chillin... or a musical instument when I'm bored...I just pluck away and turn the handlebars to change the pitch and tone!

 

LOL I could picture it now.. playing the rubberband one handed HCs...

thats an outdated technique woo get with the game.. do u know the danger of what happens when one of your rubber bands snap? your bars go full lock the other direction.. duh..

the new hottness is to tack weld your head bearing together...
