Basic handbrake question....
Basic handbrake question....
I am assuming that for the handmade handbrakes guys just take a front master cylinder set up from a 954/929 or whatever and flip the assembly upside down to use it from the left clip on..........Right or whats the deal?????
Second, where the heck can I get a long enough brake line that has the fitting on the one side to connect to the master cylinder and the correct fitting on the other side to connect to the rear master cylinder or caliper???
What do you guys reccomend?????

Re: Basic handbrake question....
Yeah, you can use any front brake M/C with a remote mount resivoir. (little plastic cup thingy). OR you can use a hydraulic clutch master cylinder, but most people dont like them (from what i've read). Basically you flip it, extend the line from the res. to the M/C (with whatever fits, rubber fuel line works fine) and ghetto fab a mount for the plastic cup thingy.
m/c's you can use: (not a complete list, but its what i know about)
newer gix-6's/750/1000
honda cbr 900rr's 929/954
R6/R1
I used an r6 on my first hb worked fine, and have a gix 1k for my next one.
best/cheapest idea I've found. Grab a small chunk of aluminum round stock. chop like 3/4" off it. Drill it, and tap it with a 1.25x10mm tap. Weld it on to the rear mastercylinder. and run a 48"-54" line from the welded on fitting to the front master.
www.bonocoinc.com is the place to go. $39 shipped for a 54" #3 steel braided line with 10mm banjo fittings on each end. im in class so im done talking, but all that should give you an idea. :YEAH
