HELP!!! Engine block problem.....PLEASE LOOK

Here is the deal.......

I was putting on the rest of the parts that I need to get my bike back and running and when I took off the stator cover I noticed that there was a crack in the engine case right below one of the bolts.

The crack is about a half an inch long. What if anything has anyone done to seal up the crack so oil doesn't leak out???????

I was told by someone who worked in a industrial foundry that they have seen crack sealer where it leaks down into the crack then hardens to help seal it. Does anyone know where I can find something like this??????

Clean all the oil off with carb craner and put some JB Quick on that ****. JB Quick is a member of the holy trinity of stunter repair methods: zipties, ducttape, and JB Weld.

I'm also a big fan of jb quick, but for something like that i would recomend the the origional stuff that takes a day to cure. According to the jb weld website, jb quick is about 1/2 as strong and about 1/2 as heat resistant compared to the origional stuff. The origional stuff is what people have used to fix axles and stuff like that.

Re: HELP!!! Engine block problem.....PLEASE LOOK

I had the same problem on my 929 but it was worse. I high sided a fast seat stander circle and my cage pushed in so far that the impact on the crash was assorbed by my left stator/magneto case cover. When i took the case off, a triangle that was 1 inch long in all directions fell off the block. And it happend to be where one of the mounting bolts goes through.

All i did was drain the oil, clean all the oil in the block, i put jb quick on the inside of the motor, in the middle of the crack and on the outside. Hasn't leaked and its been a month. Jb quick prevails once again!

Re: HELP!!! Engine block problem.....PLEASE LOOK

dude. f*ck jb weld. go to alumaloy.net or go on ebay and type in alumaloy, i've used this stuff and it works outstanding, its so incredibly easy to use and turns out to be so rock solid and stronger than welding. i hit a median doing a stoppie 6 months ago and completely busted 2 ears off of the block part that the case bolts into same situation as you, but worse. all you need is a propane torch to melt this stuff on and its rock solid, i custom fabricated 2 new ears and then drilled em, tapped em, and sanded em. i welded my foot shifter with this stuff too! they also make cast and steel versions of this stuff, you cant go wrong, it f*ckin works.

Re: HELP!!! Engine block problem.....PLEASE LOOK

yeah i have seen it, it works pretty goos, basically some AL type filler with epoxy resins, same idea as JB weld, but with heat, and wayyyyyyyyy quicker set up. It is not stronger than welding, no way in hell. welding alters the crystalline strusture of the metal, to form the two pieces into one, instead of adhering them together. jb weld or the aluminum **** will work fine in this situation, but i would trust jb weld, because its cheap, easy to get fast, and proven. who knows how the aluma **** might be with oil, and what if it detiorated and flaked off into your motor

Re: HELP!!! Engine block problem.....PLEASE LOOK

I found this stuff called HTS-2000 (its very similar to the alumaloy). I emailed the company and according to the the temp range is good to 730deg. and will withstand oil.
http://www.newtechnologyproducts.net...num_repair.htm

I guess my main concern is that when my 954 is at full temp I know for sure that the engine case is dam Hot, **** my frame get so hot in the summer that if I touch my legs to it when I am riding it hurts......I would be afraid of the soldering stuff starting to break up alittle or melt........

Check it out and let me have some of your opinions.............Please!!!
