Re: ---------636 Thread---------
they are cool, but they are weak.
905 fairing stay
FI cage
get aftermarket footpeg brackets/pegs
i like the aftermarket clipons as well
crank preload, compression/rebound damping 2 clicks out from full hard
30 psi front and rear
up 16 in the rear, stock in the front.
full throttle inc handbrake with an older zx7 hydraulic clutch master.
cam chains are noisy.
fill with slightly over 4 quarts of oil. dont ride the bar and there wont be airbox problems.
race glass works well too.
i just lowered my triples and put my clipons on top. seems to work well. gives you more leverage, i've only ridden it for 5 minutes like that.
that is all i got. ditch the kawi, ride red!

Re: ---------636 Thread---------
turn the clipons out slightly. the aftermarket (www.woodcraft-cfm.com) ones are also longer, so you have a wider grip with more leverage. feels good so far, almost like an f4Isgarbage!

mess with stoppies or comin down hard??? Re: ---------636 Thread---------
havent found the lowering to cause probs yet, but i only rode for 5 minutes before i snapped the bottom of my fork clean off and almost killed myself (it was cracked from having my pegs too long). however, i did get a few wheelies and stoppies in a nd coming down, it was fine (i had my uppper off though), and endos felt fine too. it will probably affect the street handling more than anything. wheelies and endos should be normal, just no knee dragging.
Re: ---------636 Thread---------
I have been thinking about that alot and want to try it but not sure about lowering the bike that much. Teach let us know the next few times you ride it how it feels and works out. I dont have an upper so no problem there but I am worried about bottoming and stuff like that

Re: ---------636 Thread---------
JohnnyP could you post a close-up of those rearsets, please? What kind of metal did you use stainless steel? I was thinking doing same kind of rearsets for my double junk
Re: ---------636 Thread---------
I dont have any closer pics right now but their made or 2 pieces of 1/4" 70/75 aluminum doubled up cause thats all I had and I wanted them to be 1/2" think in total.
I just roughly plotted them out on graph paper and made a quick CAD of them with just the outline and holes. Then I cut them out on my CNC Router/Mill then I made a seperate program to make the pockets the peg hindges lock into (its like a circle with a flat spot so the dont rotate) and counter sunk for the mounting bolts. Took about 1-2 hours and I made them cause it was a weekend and I just bought 2 new stock ones on the Friday, and I broke them both by Sat night.
Thats it basically you could cut them out without a mill Im sure, something like a bandsaw would do. I used an heel guard from an old set of aftermarket rearsets on the left side just cause it looked cool. I used the stock one on right side and tapped the treads to mount the rear master cyinder by hand.
Ive dropped them pretty hard and they dont even bend, where as stock they would snap right off from a little drop.
