03' 636 Motor Noise
When Cold Has A Ticking Noise.sounds Like The Valves.when It Gets Warm It Goes Away.might Have Always Done It But I Had A Shorty Can On There And Couldn't Hear It.but Now That I Put The Stock One Back On I Have Noticed It.....any Body Else With A 636 Have The Same Noise.change Oil Every 1000 Miles With 6000 On Bike
Re: 03' 636 Motor Noise
Mine ticks like a bia
But when I checked the valves they were fine but there was wear on the cam hold downs from oil starvation. I over fill now and just hope it lasts a little before she goes.
You could try the tensioner that goes sometimes and just unwinding and resetting it helps for a while. The tic always comes back though in my experiece

That Lucas is the deal, it ,makes the oil stick to everything, helps alot with long 12 oclock wheelies.

I am going to try that. Mine seriously sounds like i have a midget in my motor with a ballpeen hammer going to town. It warms up and still makes a bit of noise but not as much as when cold.
I will probably change the cam chain tensioner this winter as well
Re: 03' 636 Motor Noise
the oil stabilizer is basically like syrup you mix in with your regular oil... that's what it looks like anyway, so wouldn't that fu<c></c>ck with your clutch? either way, my 636 ticks too, it's annoying, but i've heard that it's just typical kawasaki, either way, i'm getting a new tensioner in a week or two.
