back brake
Hey guys, just wanna say that I appreciate all the tips and advice thats given to those who aspire to learn these tricks inspite of the money spent and broken bones. Thank you.
Now, I was just hoping someone could tell me how most of you started using the back brake. I know it only comes with practice. But how did you guys start off at first. Thanx in advance guys.

Re: back brake
start using it to slow down a little while you're riding. I wouldn't suggest using it in a curve, but pullin up to stop lights is when I taught myself to use it. It probably helped that I was riding without the right handle bar after I crashed so I really had no choice.
Re: back brake
im pretty sure you mean during woolies... i learned from ridin four wheelers and tryin to stay within bp, then learned real quick on the fiddy becuase after bruising my coccyx i decided i'd learn my brake, after like a week of riding it becomes second nature...
Re: back brake
Its not fun when you first start using it beacuse you always give too much and force the wheelie down even though you dont mean to. But stick with it and eventually you'll have it locked and you wont even realize it untill your friends are yelling out how slow your goin.
Learned myself over the winter on a 50
then it only took about 2 days to tranfer the skill over to the big bike. Im glad I didnt try learing on the big bike because there was alot of falls and alot of running looping the 50.

ok this is how i learned and i didnt learn previous on a 4 wheeler or 50...turn ur idle up to 2300ish this will take ova when ur high enuff and let u kno u hit "the spot" but it wont carry you...for the first day i spent learning to 12 i did just that, and i wud clutch up and hit the brake...whether my frront wheel was 6 inchesoff the ground or i was scrapin tail, jsut clutch it up and hit it this will get the reflex into you....then instead of tryin to go straight to 12 or idle i wud focus on gettin my front wheel higher than it was last time..this was u wont get frustrated, and u feel liek ur progressing....once u can consistantly come close or hit "the spot" turn ur idle to bout 3500...tthis will carry you fine...now ur prob will be that u will hit the spot and hit the brake to hard and coem down....so now hit "the spot" and focus mainly on tappin the brake lighter and lighter... wat helps is when u hit the spot to move ur hand to the front brake res...that way u cant use the throttle and the only way to keep goin is to improve ur brake control...hope this helps any other ?'s post up
Re: back brake
i learned by riding around for like a week using nothing but the rear brake to stop my bike...it helped me get the foot to brake in my head and so i knew where it was all the time...i learned how to actually use it in a wheelie by just landing my normal wheelies with the rear brake, then started floating them back enough where when i hit the brake i didnt land but insteady just adjusted the bikes height.

Re: back brake
so I went out and tried all the advice that I got from all of you and thanx once again, but what is more ideal to try them in as for speed and gear. 1st or 2nd gear. I can ride out 2nd for a while but I dont wanna experiment with braking and end up looping, sitdowns btw. I get the same feeling when I m in the staggered position standing. When standing, to use the back brake is all of your weight on the left foot or evenly distributed? I really apreciate all of your help guys, thank you so much.

Re: back brake
Hey Z, sorry that it took me this long to reply, dont have a comp at home. But thank you for the in-depth guide on how to do this, and thanx to everyone who responded at all. Appreciate guys.
Re: back brake
Using the back brake a lot during normal riding gets you used to it being there and just bring your wheelies down using the back brake instead of the throttle. Then you'll eventually figure out how to tap it just a little to slow them down. Good luck.
