Steering dampner on f4i with 929 forks?
Okay, so when I go to get a dampner, what mounting kit do I go with? 929 or f4i? I am going to have the 929 front end on, and I was curious if this would be a problem....

i run a hyperpro on mine.. 929 upper tank mount all you have to do is have a riser made to go on top of the tank under the bracket and just use some longer bolts... works perfect

I run Scotts dampers on all my rigs for a couple reasons...easy to interchange...in fact, if you have more than one bike, you can buy multiple install kits and then it's just two screws to swap from bike to bike...Scotts dampers also run adjustable high and low speed dampening...what's that mean, you say? Well you can crank your high speed all the way up (this will kill most tank slappers at speed) but you can also turn your low speed dampening way down....one of the problem i used to run into with longer and higher speed endos was that i needed dampening at high speed when i was just pulling it up there but when the endo got slower and if i had my dampening cranked up, i would loose the "feel" of the front end due to vague input through the dampner...with the adjustable high and low speed, you get the best of both worlds...plus they are virtually crash proof and i have been running one damper for almost 3 years now and it's still as good as new and the other damper for 2 years...same deal...no need for rebuild yet. There are a couple other dampers on the market that have adjustable high and low speed...so i would look for that when deciding, but the scotts is the way to go if you ask me...any dealer that distributes scotts is equipped for custom applications with only a phone call...they can call scotts and let them know for sure which parts you'll need....off the top of my head you would need the F4i tank mount kit and the 929 upper and rod (although the f4i and 929 upper collar may be the same...i have noted that most of the collars are interchangable throughout almost the entire honda line)...
BTW...I know the GPR damper looks similiar to the Scotts, but it is acutally a totally different internal design...no high speed/low speed settings....just normal

right on, I was leaning mostly towards the hyperpro, but considering the GPR. Thanks for the insight on not getting one. I also never really thought about the crash proof-ness of a damper, I guess a stick damper would be more succeptible to damage.......wouldnt mind hearing some more input....
