Question About Crashes

Is there any way to fix cracked or broken ferrings? I am wondering if anyone knows of PRODUCTS or COMPANIES that sell something to hold the plastic together?

Like a bondo, but strong enough to work on motorcycle ferrings?

Some one has got to sell this.

thanx for your help.

Re: Question About Crashes

some other guys will list some products they have used befor on there bikes im just not sure of the names.

I myself use a soldering gun and just melt the crack back together on both sides and bondo over the "minty side". If your still not able to get a solid connection for the crack get it as best you can to hold it in the right shape and then just lay a layer of Fiberglass resin/matt on the backside of the plastic and bondo over the good side and that will fix any crack.. hole... missing chunk you name it.

exactly, my bike was very minty with its fresh paint and all when i bought it. After takin off plastics and lookin at the backside of them i seen there were fiberglass patches here and there where it had been repaired. Looked good as new and i had no idea it was even repaired.

Everyone should learn to fiberglass you can do ANYTHING with that stuff its time consuming but very strong stuff.

Re: Question About Crashes

hobby shops sell plastic filler material to use with a soldering gun to weld it back together. autozone and advance auto sell a 2 part epoxy called plastic weld that works awesome.

my tail section was broken completely in half, i used the epoxy with fiberglass tape that you use for patching holes in walls, cant even tell from the outside.

You can fix ANYTHING with zipties, duct tape, lots of swearing, and a hammer.

/\ very true....my last upper was held together by zipties!!!!! Now I have a street/race carbon fiber upper from www.archangelcomposites.com, took forever to get, but have beat the hell outta it and it holds up good.....eliminated front turn siganlas too....no place to mount them, looks slick....was about 325 with shipping
