chain clicking ?

my chain seems to be almost like hiccupping when i am in a wheelie... what could be the problem? it is stock geared 01 gix 6.

seems like it is going to miss and when it catches it will throw me off the bike... need some input, thanks

Re: chain clicking ?

YEP, i agree, your chain is prolly too loose but the real culprit is prolly a severly worn sproket, if the rear looks ok, i would check the front before you ride again!

Re: chain clicking ?

IVE had this problem several times. i had to replace both sprockets and the chain to solve it completely.

First time, i out riding and couldnt gas on it hard at all. when i got to the shop, i looked and i only had 5 rear teeth left on my sprocket.

So i replaced it. I think a rock got stuck in the chain or something. I put a new renthal on and it was toast a week later because my chain had damage.

i replaced the combo and never had the problem again

Re: chain clicking ?

90% of the time when I get that its the chain being streched unevenly. If you tighten the chain and when you rotate it the wheel the amount slack changes then its ****ed. If its no the chain its you sprocket but it could be both like someone already mentioned.

Re: chain clicking ?

i had it so bad that the sprocket was starting to turn the teeth backward instead of straight up and down

Re: chain clicking ?

My friend let his get so bad that all the teeth were hooked forward and about 2mm wide. And when it got really loud we checked it out and 3 teeth were completly missing from the rear SS

Re: chain clicking ?

has to be chain and sprockets like was said above ten times...

make sure when you get the new chain to clean and lube it as often as possible. you are supposed to do it every 500 miles, but most people dont have the time to do that.
