What gear for slow wheelies on my bike?

Hey guys, sorry if this is such a dumb question, and i tried searching for it but didn't find anything that quite answered what i was lookin for. I have a 98 900rr, +11 in the back. i was wondering what gear i should be going for to just try to start rollin out slow standup wheelies? I assumed first, but it still seemed a lil jumpy to me and 2nd seemed to have enough power, so i thought i'd see what you guys thought. Also any suggestions for foot and body positioning would be helpful. Thanks, and once again sorry if this question bothers anyone with my noobness. Later.

I know what you mean, my 900rr is geared -2 +7 and it when i've tried to do standups in 1st gear it comes up crazy fast. you may want to practice in 2nd for a while and get used to it. I bring mine up in 2nd barely rolling.

Same here. I think most people like me started in 2nd and got used to then slowed them down and went to 1st. It all depends on you. What ever you feel comfortable with. I don't like rockin 80~90 mph wheelies anymore but thats all some people do.

Re: What gear for slow wheelies on my bike?

Things are coming along good in 2nd, thanks again for all the help/suggestions guys. One more question though, every now and then the rear tire will spin up, is this becayse of body position or do you need to be on really good pavement to pop this thing up perfectly every time. Thanks again for the help. oh and eazenutz33 you sound like a really cool dude, maybe one day i'll be lucky enough to be as cool as you and make fun of people starting out instead of helpin them. But hey i'm just a n00b so what do i know.
