Spreaders and High Chairs

I feel pretty confident with wheelies so far. I can ride sit downs and stand ups until i run out of road and can consistently bring the front end up with both the clutch and bounce/full throttle. But now I want to learn spreaders and high chairs (duh...) so heres my questions:

1. Will I be able to do it on my bike (01 Gixxer 600, 1 tooth down in front, yosh ems, full m4 system, and bmc filter)?

2. Must I absolutely dent the tank or is there some kind of friction material (skaters tape, etc...) that I can take off and it won't ruin my tank?

3. I should and am going to get a cage when money comes in (not startin spreaders and stuff until then) but is there a cage out there that i can buy that allows me to leave my fairings on the bike or do I have to take them off also?

4. When I'm ready to start, which stunt should I learn first? I assum spreader but hey, who knows?

5. What is the best technique for each stunt? (IE, for a spreader should I sit on the tank and then clutch it up and hope for the best or is there some other guru trick to it?)

I think thats about it for now. If anyone thinks i should practice some other tricks first before attempting these please, feel free to speak up. Thanks yall.

2 best eway stunts in my opnion.....In my opnion just make sure ur comfortable with what ur tryin to do b4 doing it, I would say practice in a lot b4 moving to the streets. To me when I started out doing HC's was gettin up and down. Spreaders is just a wheelie on ur tank no special touch for that, just throttle control and reachin the bp.

1. Im 2 down and 11 up and can rock them in 3rd all day, Im on a 900 also, it depends on what gear ur wantin to do them in.

2. For HC's a dented tank is great I haven tried it without, some kinda grip tape for spreaders is good.

3. You can keep ur farings with any cage out there.

4. Learn spreaders first in my opnion

5. Watch videos and see the tech. they use for each stunt and go and practice, with any stunt once you do it it usually comes naturally afterwards..

Go out and DO IT!!! Good luck and be safe...

Yes. Griptape will work but you will tear your pants up.

Any cage will work, if you want a cage that'll still let you ride twisties www.mxdcages.com sells track cages with sliders and a support bar for 125.

Clutch it until the front lifts off the ground, lock your arms and spread your legs.

You might want to try standup wheelies first at the speed you're going to be doing the spreaders because that 600 might not launch a spreader in 2nd gear so if you've never done standup wheelies in first gear learn.

Re: Spreaders and High Chairs

I make no claim to doing them well, still learning, however, I started spreaders in my seat with my legs out, to get a feel of not having my feet on the pegs, I then moved onto the tank after I was comfortable.

I use skaters tape, but make sure you have good pants on. one day I was in the front messing around with loose fitting pants, well the pants stayed, I slid back into the seat.

Re: Spreaders and High Chairs

search the classifieds thread on sl and check ebay im sure u ll find a tank cheap . alsso clutch them in first, cuz i had an 02 f4i -1 and when i did em in second ud be doin em at like 60 or above. which is a lil to fast for the street. so learn em in first. also dont worry bount denting ur tank one hc wheelie and ur tank will dent then u can finish it with ur hand...lol. also i find hc's easier to balance cuz i can hold on with my feet on the front fairing. when u do spreaders clutch em up, and keep ur legs in either resting on the cage on holding on the side of teh bike umtil u hit bp then extend ur legs.

Re: Spreaders and High Chairs

Definatly learn in first. I dont have spreaders on lock yet but i can do them. I have my gas tank stock so no grip tape or nothing... think im goin to put some of that on there first instead of denting my tank. So i have to grip the tank with my thighs.

my F2 can bring spreaders up no problem in 1st and im -1 as well. Just work that clutch harder. Sit on the tank befor attempting it maybe with your legs in (cowboy wheelie some have called it) to get the feel of sittin on the tank. Then just spread your legs out once your up in BP. But make sure your not goin to slide off the tank (ease into the trick) cause thats no fun ive done it twice.

Cant suggest anything for you on HC's though. Havnt grab nut sack and tried that yet.

Re: Spreaders and High Chairs

i tried doing a seat spreader today and i was in second and when the wind hit my legs...god damn! i thought i was gonna get split apart! i know i should be doing them in first but, about what rpm should i clutch it up at? i would ask speed my speedo is sooo out of whack because of the -1 up front and another really long story i don't feel like explainin.

Re: Spreaders and High Chairs

you should do them at the slowest speed that your bike wont bog down at when you clutch it. on your set up that should be like 10-15 mph, maybe 20. sorry dont know what rpm that is. always first gear. 2nd gear is for amatures(unless youve got big a$$ sprockets). learn EVERY trick in first(provided your throttle control is good), its way more

also, i suggest strongly that you dent your tank in if you wanna pull gangsta spreaders. all it takes is for you to slip off your tank once and youll see what i mean. its not just slipping back, its also off the sides that could get you.

always lean back. on spreaders, sit on the back of your tailbone, not on your a$$. always clutch it up. after that, practice makes perfect

if youve got any more ?'s ill try to answer those too

Re: Spreaders and High Chairs

yeah stick to first, probably 15-20 MPH max speed. Roughly 4-5k on my F2 (if i remember right, havnt been on my bike in to long) I mostly go off of feel and sound. I dont give a hoot about gauges when im doin wheelies.

If you dont have your tank dented you dont have gangster spreaders. You have spreaders that look like the one in my avatar haha. Just remember second gear is goin to hurt ALOT more to loop then first.
