Ok, so I got a "new" bike for Christmas. :YEAH It's a '02 GSXR600, and 1 day into having it I already need some protective gear. I wanted to get a 905 cage and bar, but from looking at the pictures on their site, I'm not so sure they would do any good. Anyone have any insight as to how strong they are? Cause I really don't need to spend some $300 odd on a cage that sucks and bar that cracks, ya know what I mean?

cage = 905, ugly, too big, hit your shins on it 24/7, i rode a gsxr with a 905 cage, i went to get off and almost fell over cause it locked my legs on the bike so i had to go around again and "unlock" my legs before i get off. I had a 99 gsxr6, and if the new gsxr frames are the same, all you need is sliders. I flopped mine a bunch of times and did no damage. gsxr's are good bikes if you crash a lot.

 

905 are great IMO, heres a lil' frame slider mod we've all done to ours, makes them soooooo much more functional too. weld a small peice of steel where the top and side bars meet, then bolt a frame slider to it.

 

Yeah for sure GSXR"S are great if you crash alot.. I hardley ever break anything at all..In 2 year I think I broke one foot peg... I also Have a Freestyle Cage.. Which I love!!!

i'm not sayin buy my cage or there cage ,but even if they cost $1000.00 there alot cheaper than replacing an engine and plastics every other crash at $300 even if it breaks after 2 wrecks it already paid for it self :YEAH

 

I've not a 905 Cage on my F4I, and a buddy just bought one for his GSXR 750. First time i ever got onthe F4I, and went to 12'v, i never hit my shin's. I can see where people do, but you just gotta keep it in your head that its there. I love my 905 and after my buddy dropped his gsxr, he swears by them

 

905 arnt bad cages, id like to run one of um. But there just too big for my likings.

 

How tall are you? Cus' I'm 5'10.

i myself also did a little mod to the 905 design. i'm not sure about the other bikes but with the stock 905 cage the 929 wanted to roll over onto the tank when dropped, so a simple extended frame slider help stop that. IMO 905 is a great cage!!! yes it does tend to come close to your legs, but you can either live with it or just buy $12 FOX knee/shin guards. to help out the cage i also used my old frame sliders on the axle. i attached the frame sliders to a long rod and ran it right through the axle. as you can see in the pic, it looks a little funny, but it does serve it's purpose. with this set up, i've crashed on 12's and stoppies. and pretty much NO damage!! not even a scrach on the exhust.

EXACTLY!!! and I'm 6'5" Only time you hit it is when you put your feet down to stop the first couple times.

my friend has a 905 cage on his '04 Gix6.. someone in the group pulled up for a wheelie in the hiway right in front of him, and he slid out. At 85mph, the cage held it's own, and the only damage on the bike was a badly scratched cage, rear right panel, and headlight fairing... I rode another friend's R1 w/ one on, and it was actually nice when it doubled as a foot rest on the fwy... Once I get my next bike, It's the first thing going on (cuz I"m pretty sure I'm gonna be the first thing flying off.)

 

i like the FI style but first time my gixxer fell over not even a hard crash the Cage bent in shattered the stator anyways.. so no more FI for me.. i went with powers opn the gixx it was parked on 12v and it fell over on the cage nothing, cagfe took it all and just scuffed.. love it. i got 905 on my new 900.. haven't crashed YET so i can't comment but i've not had a problem hitting my shins or nothing..
