Offset Standup Question?

I dont really know the correct terminology for the stunt, but where you offset one leg to passenger peg and the other for rear brake controll. Anyhow, started practicing those in my second gear standups, and i swear i cant balance them out for sh*t.... Can anyone tell me why it wont come up high enough? i can pull it up, it feels shaky, but it does get up, and once its up there, just wont go any higher just speeds up... Anyone that can provide me with some info on how to nail this would be greatly appreciated, i hear they allow for a lower BP, and right now im nailin BP pretty good, 55mph locked down for hw wheelies and such, but still, just cant get the offset down.
Anyhow, any help much appreciated

Re: Offset Standup Question?

This makes no sense, if you're riding 55mph steady wheelies on the front pegs and you can't get it to come up on the rear pegs you're either not riding 55mph steady wheelies in the first place or you don't know how to launch a staggered wheelie, which is funny cause you can do 55mph wheelies on the front pegs which are harder to launch...

Re: Offset Standup Question?

the reason u put one leg back is to control the height of the bike with ur leg.. if u want ur bike to go higher you gotta push and straighten out ur leg on the rear peg.

Re: Offset Standup Question?

They aint coming up because you're bouncing them on the fronts and you can't get as much drive with your legs staggered. Quit bouncing and start clutching. They come up easier staggered. The wobbly is from you trying to bounce with one foot on a different peg from the other. You are pushing unevenly trying to bounce.

If you are clutching these then disregard and just grow some more *****

hes right, clutch them up when you bounce it offsets the weight.

When i do "staggered" wheelies i feel as if the BP seems higher up and i usually have a hard time finding exactly where BP is at in that position. Because my clutch is so wore out all i have to pull up wheelies staggered in 2nd and i sware i could chase BP to 90 MPH and still not find it. But i can find BP in 1st gear with 0 problems whatsoever.

Does this somehow have to do with your wieght being farther back on the bike so BP is higher? or am i just being stupid lol. Cause i can never seem to find BP in 2nd and get this scarey *** woble as i get higher in speed. And i clutch 2nd with a tug on the bars.

yep. very true. i was messing around with slower stuff yesterday and finally relized this. once your leg is straight and the front wheel is in the air, you are at BP. but another this is that you should ALWAYS be covering the brake. first gear might be forgiving but not as much when more of your weight is towards the back.

good luck dude. (also, if you can hold a 55mph stand up w/o staggered position, go with that.)

Re: Offset Standup Question?

thanks for your replies guys, first gear isnt forgiving at all on my bike, thats why i havent gave it much of a shot there. As far as clutching, i dont clutch from the front pegs, but i do from the rear, mainly becaues the first one i tried i did bounce, and yeah it wobbled like a bitch, so i quit that in a hurry and went to clutching. I just need to get the technique down a little better i guess, thats the main thing i was lookin for, was out stunting this weekend got a pic of one of my crappier standups, wind was not being helpful
