Would a Clutch master cylinder work for a HB setup?
Re: Would a Clutch master cylinder work for a HB setup?
dont see why it wouldnt. Youd need to make sure it's size is big enough to have the kind of pressure needed to operate the caliper properly.
I'm sure someone will be later to tell you whats would be best....
Would a brake caliper not be easier to source though?

I think so. The only thing is piston size. If the clutch piston is too small,it doesn't move enough fluid to work the brake, so handle could hit the handlebar. If the piston is too big, it's just hard to use(small movement). It probably depends what bike that clutch has been. Some older bikes have big clutch cylinders, so those probably would work ok. Some new enduros have really small cylinders, so those can be too small.
I think it will work. even some handbrake page instructed that clutch master can be used.

also you gotta watch out with what fluid it requires. if the clutch requires mineral oil instead of brake fluid, then the seals on the master cylinder might not like the brake fluid.
i just used a 94 900rr front brake master cylinder. easier and way way way cheaper...i couldn't find a clutch M/C for less than 150$ used.
