Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

i am clutching 1st gear wheelies pretty decent but for the life of my i cannot clutch 2nd gear up. it might be the fact that i am 6'4" at 270 lbs but who knows. my 954 should have enough ***** to pull my fat *** up. anyways, i'd like to give the staggered stance a try. if someone could give a bit more info on how to stand (legs straight, legs bent, grip on the bars), where most of my weight should focus, and **** like what i should expect on that first initial jerk and a good way to overcome that. i tried it once and i thought i was going to fly right offthe back of the bike. practice practice practice

2006 Yzf-r6?

I have the new 50th Anniversary Edition R6 (yellow) and it is my first 600. Are these easy to get up? I had an 03 GSX-R750 that I could walk up but this one feels wierd and wont come up for some reason. Anyone hear stunted the new R6 and if so, idea's/tips on wheelies on this thing?

Oh and no that wasnt me or my bike on the news that mauled that crowd in San Marcos on the Blvd off the 78...lol.

PM or email tips to STR8RAZOR@GMAIL.COM please.

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

i realize im a newbie on this site, but i can offer this insight from someone whos been wheelying quad's for 16 years..
-> Seat Positioning, seat positioning, seat positioning. Leaning over a tank
makes it hard to wheelie even the fastest bikes.. but when you get
your body weight right (back), you can wheelie a moped. (without
clutching it). .. (well maybe not a moped)
-> You may not realize it, but you are probably leaning forward when u
feel the front end come up
-> Keep the throttle on till the wheelies where u want it and just hold it..
you may be rolling off without knowing it
... hope this helps!

oh yea, DONT pull up on the bars.. it makes ur front end come up crooked usually.. keep a real light hand on the bars.. if your wrists are hurtin you, it means u got to much weight over the tank... let the bike come up on its own. it don't need your pullin.,,

I can clutch up wheelies, but I am trying to find the balance point. I read somewhere that when u see your front tire you are close. Also I can ride a good wheelie on my mountain bike and usually when I feel like I am going to fall, I do loop it.

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

think of the feeling of your balance point as the feeling when you use a hand-truck to move furniture, and u know when it just feels right and balanced.

(kinda weird but hope it helps)

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

what up fella's? i'm new to this site and stuntin as well. i wanna start practicing clutch wheelies but need a little more info. i read the sticky already but wanna make sure i got the right info. i NEVER raised the front end of my bike, not even accidentially, so obvisously i'm a little shook. so lets say i'm in first at about 5k, pull in the clutch and rev to ???? should i go to 6k, 6.5k, or 7K and then dump the clutch. this might be a stupid question but does dump mean to pop out the clutch or let it out smoothly?? by the way i ride a 05 R6 thats stock except high mount exhaust and before i try anything i'll be putting on a cage. i've been reading on this forum a lot and have seen that yamaha isn't the best bike to stunt on, are they fine for basics stunts, wheelies endos?? thanx to anyone that can help me out.

i never really look at my rpms so i cant really help you there, but when it comes to clutching a wheelie you want to be rolling just enough to keep you from falling over then pull in the clutch. once your clutch is engaged you want to release it (smooth and fast) and roll on the throttle at the same time. hope this helps
