I had an ex250 for my first bike and yes...it does wheelie...infact my boys and i turned it into a complete stunt bike! It was the **** for the shot time that it lasted, haha. Did everything from stoppies to 12's .... just didn't have enough power to do high chairs or anything involving you sitting on the tank...it was PIMP!

Question Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

I have a 2005 yamaha R6 with a slipper clutch. Can this affect how to perform a wheelie? Sometimes it seems like the bike will jump right up and other times it feels like the slipper is keeping the power from bringing it up. I rev it up really high before dropping the clutch. Comments or advice on the subject would be greatly appreiciated.

pow, pow power wheelies is the best way to learn how the scooter will react and by doing this and not using the clutch you will definately have more control of (looping) you bike

practice and it will come more consistent... why do u have a slipper clutch on a stunt bike?// j.w

umm maybe because the new R6's come stock with a slipper clutch, just like your 05 636

slipper clutches only affect downshifting, and they just protect the clutch in higher RPMs, wont affect wheelies at all, and only needed in race environments..but they are cool!

nope shouldnt affect your whoolies, dont blame your gaabage wheelies on the slipper clutch!

i think i got the wheelie thing down, as for grammar and proper spelling-does it really matter on a wheelie forum? i did not know that i was applying for a job. Just trying to help someone out that thinks that wheelies are cool, i agree they are but honestly there are too many kids out there trying to imitate experienced riders. when i am out and i see this it makes me think, wow that was me once, but if i remember- i learned on my own and without endangering any of my fellow riders. one occasion that i remember- last fall a kid on an 88 yzf with an over inflated bald 160 thought it would be cool to show off when he went into the worst tank slap that i have ever seen (no helmet-no leather). i think someone from above really helped him out with that one. thats just my for whatever its worth.

"It is the slow wheelies that you have to consciously balance side to side. The principle is pretty simple. Quickly lean the same direction as the bike is falling. For example, if the bike is starting to fall to the left, you would quickly lean to the left. This movement would twist the bike towards the left, thereby correcting it."

I'm still learning this technique, can anybody chime in here to help me out, I'm lifting them up slow, and not having a problem balancing, but side to side is pissing me off! Keeps wobbling dirty, I'm workin on smoother throttle, but I guess I'm not moving around on the bike enouph

oh yeah, dont wanna step on any toes, but the 05' R6 doesnt have a slipper clutch.

the new 06 R6, and the limited 06 R1 have the slipper clutch.

Its the total opposite of what you said, if your trying to hold a straight line you are wrong, if your trying to circle than your a liitle bit on track. if you cant pull it from a dead stop and not break 5 miles per hour then you are still going way to fast. brake control is one of the most important things. try this if your standing up, "look at your feet when you up" this should help you concentrate on the bike and not whats in front of you, by the way do this in a parking lot that you are familiar with, run a lower psi
