rtpassini - if you just dump the clutch the back tire will break loose. you wanna let it out fast, but smooth.

^^ yupz.. thats happend to my friend alot .. but some how he seems to be able to dump it .. burn out and then wheelie.. idk how and i wish i had a camra.. but it was cool.. as for my self.. i keep breaking it loose.. but thats partially cuz my tire is almost completely bald in the center..

That always happens to me...............
I'm still learning...There's times when I can get it up at ease...
A lot of times, especially at speeds greater than 20mph, my back tire always breaks loose. It's ****in scary when you burn out and then wheelie...
When the back tire spins I don't expect the front to come up...After about a second and a half the rear tire catches and up I go...It comes up high right to balance point....
It's probably okay for you pro's out there, but for a beginner to come up to balance point it's pretty scary. Especially when my back tire tends to skid to the right when burning out. So when I come up, I come up at a slant.
That's why when I bring it up I go slow (10-15mph)... It will come up as soon as I dump the clutch without the rear tire burning out.

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way
i am riding a 2001 gsxr 750, i need some tips on maintainin my bike on one wheelie, i am able to lift the bike with pwr or clutch...but i cant go far....and it tends to move backwards the more i throttle and that scares me ****...so does a sec clutch gear much safer?
Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

The same thing happens to me but that's because i am too damn :YEAH to wheelie before my tire warms up, at first it is scary because of the reasons metioned above...but after a while you get used to it...i know for a fact that my tire will spin out the first 3 or 4 times i try to clutch it up, so i try to enjoy it...sometimes i try to see how long i can keep it burning....
i don't like to do wheelies that come from burn outs..i like to do one or the other...also when you burn out before you wheelie your wasteing valuable RPMS that you could use during a wheelie..and let's not forget when you come up from a burn out it's a whole lot more unpredictable.
things to do to stop this madness...
1. be smoother on the clutch..
2. lean back just a tad.
3. wait until tires are warm, sticky, icky
4. *** it if your a rookie just be safe and do a 20 second burn out before you clutch a wheelie... that way you know your **** well stick.
yeah tires are expensive but we love to smoke em anyway....tires are cheaper then bike... Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way
f4rider your advice was priceless, yesterday it was just warm enough for me to get up and go for a little ride. i decided to try to clutch up a wheelie like in second how u reccomended, close throttle use one finger pull clutcher lever in all the way rev engine let clutch out fast but smooth, it worked so damn good i couldn't believe it!!!!! i was doing wheelies all up and down the. now i dont have them perfected yet of course but thanks for the thread it definetly helped out a newbie
