Tank slap bring a wheelie down can be caused by a number of factors.
Worn/cupped front tire
Setting wheelie down at high speed
Setting wheelie down with the wheel not straight
Loose steering stem/ worn steering bearings
Bad pavement
Bar all the mechanical issues, 9 times out of 10 tank slaps from wheelies usually mean youre going way too fast. Buy a steering damper and slow down.

thanks for the reply. i think you may be right as i am lifting it with power not the clutch, i really need to get a new rear sprocket to get into this properly as its been geared for top end. steering damper and sprockets next on the list, although i just experienced some handle bar judder under heavy breaking, so maybe the head bearings are knackered, although the previous owner said they were just done!!!!! hmmmmm???? think i'll nip out and try and tighten stem nut a bit.

ok, just tightened the headset a bit, seems to of eliminated the judder under heavy breaking. im running with a fully inflated tyre as i use the bike daily, could this be the cause of me not coming down straight maybe?? just a thought, greatly appreciate the help guys! gonna save for an f4i for a stricktly stunter. I jus tried some more wheelies, slower this time and after tightening headset, i still seem to mess up the landing

judder under heavy breaking not gone after all. been looking into that and found that preload set too soft can cause the judder. how hard do you all set your preload on the front end?? thanks again in advance!
