what gear to wheelie
Re: what gear to wheelie
No I'm slammin the Sub frame and draggin for a few feet and it just lays over or flips back. I no longer have a tail light or even fender eliminator anymore because of it. I've already replaced every single piece of plastic on this bike and it's not even a year old. I just can't figure out the balance point and where I should keep the RPMs at to keep it from draggin ***.
Re: what gear to wheelie
yeah thought it was different ratios...but same principle for he most part!! i can clutch it up in 1st...the OP just has to get over the OH **** feeling
Re: what gear to wheelie
im 60t rear and stock front...i use 2 be scared to clutch up in 1st but when i realized i wasnt gettin anywhere in 2nd gear then i went to 1st...all you have to do is get use to it...it took me a whole day to get use to that big *** sprocket and im higher up in the gears then you are...so if you gon be scared to clutch up in 1st then you mind as well hang it up like jordan

so anyways today i spent all day with this slow **** and finally getting it a lil better.. 1st is def better for slow stuff. i just raised my idle to 3k popped the clutch about a trillion times and whollla.

Re: what gear to wheelie
Alright I'm new at clutchin a bike up. I usually just throttle it up. I have an 09 R1 and I've tried searchin it and I've watched tons of videos but these guys are tiny compared to me. Everytime I try to do what they suggest I 12 O'clock and go down. I need some input on what evryone else has done so I can try what y'all have been doin. I had a GSX-R 750 and I clutched it up in first or second. This new R1 is way different than the 750 though. Anyone got any ideas?
Re: what gear to wheelie
what im interested to know is im dumping the clutch around 10k to get the front up is that not right? -1/+2 r6 it comes up about 3-4 feet sitting down. im going slow like almost stopped.
anyone??
anyone??
Re: what gear to wheelie
Easiest way is to come to a complete stop... let off the brake, roll the throttle and slip the clutch all in one motion...
Re: what gear to wheelie
Chances are your body positioning isnt right and the tire is spinning or something, one day it's gonna hook and lights out

Are you bouncing it up at all, or moving your body at all when you clutch it up? Shouldnt need 10K RPM's
Re: what gear to wheelie
if your doing it exactly how your saying it then yeah, prolly gonna loop it.

On my 08 Im 5up in the rear and -1 up front. Normally with the idle at stock used to come to a stop, clutch it, and kinda bounce it up. Then i would catch it with the rear brake and slow it down. It tooook alot of practice to slow them down. Now i run Idle at 3300-3600rpm and let it rip.
Re: what gear to wheelie
yeah thats what every one said...but i slowly worked my way up and it only started coming up around 8k...ill try what you said instead and bounce...i wasnt bouncing before...im pretty sure i have my rear suspension as stiff s can go and tire is at 30psi
Re: what gear to wheelie
yeah try it. My 05 isnt that bad. Its stock gearing and I can slip the clutch and find BP quick. Just make sure you rock your gear and some huevos
