Need advice on stoppies
Need advice on stoppies
Ok so I haven't really tried to do any stoppies much. But when I have tried it, when I hit the brake the front tire starts to wash out. So far I haven't taken a spill cuz I've let off the brake in time.
Can you guys tell me why this may be happening? Is it because the lot surface of the lot I'm riding on may be dirty?
And I think I'm deffinately not going near as fast as I should be. Since my wheel keeps washing out when I try to do a little stoppie, I feel way to sketchy to pick up any speed.

Re: Need advice on stoppies
i have always noticed that a cheap front tire doesnt hook as good as a good one. It could also be that the tire or the pavement is cold. Buy a pilot power and it should solve your problem

Re: Need advice on stoppies
like those dudes said, pilot power with about 30lbs of pressure in it. surface gotta be clean get going at a good pace round 40mph preload your suspension with a little bit of braking and then give it a nice good fist of brake to get it up then let off as needed so you dont flip over. some ppl like to bounce but i find that makes me sketchy. squeeze knees into the tank also. keep at it, stoppies are a long road to get good at.
Re: Need advice on stoppies
pilot power, warm up the tires, dont try them on gravel. you should be set.
if you are locking up the front even at slow speeds try not mashing the lever so hard. be smooth. i also "bounce" on the seat right before i grab brake and lift off the seat a little bit to get your weight off the back and over the front. i hold the tank with my legs too. practice practice practice.

Re: Need advice on stoppies
i run 38 pounds in my front....like to 180.....i cant afford new tires just go with the take offs....if it slides it does if it doesnt, thats cool to...LOL but listen to these guys...hahha
Re: Need advice on stoppies
Haha there's always that chance the front end will washout no matter what set up you have. Just make sure you let off the brakes quick so you don't slide too far.
Re: Need advice on stoppies
eventually you get good at the front tire skid lol. i was doing 20 footer tire skids in a lot in jersey last year rolling stoppies. lot was soo dirty but i was like **** it, roll into it hot, skid then it pulls up lol.
Re: Need advice on stoppies
you're nuts LOL. I'm gonna start bringing a push broom to the spot and tie it my bar and sweep the lot

Re: Need advice on stoppies
Take the pilot power ! Good in rain also. I put on 1.6 bar , that is good for grip and it helps stabilizing the front like a steering damper.
First make speed then take front brake until the point the bike's back gets real light , then lift your *** up just above seat and pull with your inner legs on the tank while doing so. Then when you are up release a little brake until you almost don't need to use the brake(at almost BP). Depends on how good you are .
