F4i Problem !!!

my bike would fire up and keep running till the temp hit 175-180 then the fuel pump will just shut off. i could not start it right back up, its like fuel pump just died. but if i let the bike cool down for like 30 mins then it would fire back up again. but the fuel pump will just shut itself down when the temp hit that certain point. any idea whats wrong with it?

Re: F4i Problem !!!

i tried it like 6-7 times and it will shut down right around that temp. it almost like something gets too hot and it just shut down. if i let it sit for a while it'll start back up again.

Re: F4i Problem !!!

when it shuts down, with the key still on (so you can hear if the fuel pump kicks on) try jiggling wires ALL OVER the bike..

all over, from the tip sensor wires in the front end, the wires in your tail, even the wires under your gas tank and seat

If it kicks on as you jiggle them, then a bad connection somewhere.. If not then im lost

Re: F4i Problem !!!

mine did that **** forever, but it would always happen when I hit a bump in the road, or set a wheelie down.. The FI light would come on, the bike would spit and stutter, then either start running fine again, or die tell I jiggled wires..

my problem turned out one of the kill switch wires in the harness was fucked, had to solder that **** up

but with these bikes being fuel injected, it could be a whole number of different wires being disconnected or loose

Re: F4i Problem !!!

also maybe when it dies, open the gas cap and see if air rushes in.. Maybe the check valve is stuck not allowing air into the tank, then after running tell you get to full temp the fuel pump can't pump ne more

Re: F4i Problem !!!

unrelated to the fuel pump, but is the bike shutting down as the fan kicks on? sounds like a dead cell in the battery or a stator to me, or possible a wire that is loose, buy a wiring harness off ebay for 30 bucks, replace it and ride out
