School me

Wazza fellas. I ve been clutching first gear wheelies. Sometimes the wheel comes up VERY fast (SCARY) and sometimes the wheel comes up progressively. Obviously, there is something I ve been doing differently with the clutch/Throttle. i like it much better when the wheel comes up progressively. So, tell me what am doing different and how to get to the progressive lift option. i figure i would figure it out while practicing, but i am looking for a quick fix. School me.

Re: School me

pulling has no effect , it's all in the releasing the clutch while on the gas

So u r suggesting releasing the clutch slowly instead of dumping it? I ve noticed that if i release it slowly i just end up having the rear tire spin and not lift the bike up.

Re: School me

its definetly a balance, and one of those things that would be really hard to explain. if you rev up, and dump your going to pop fast, but if you rev as you slip, its a smooother pop.

If you hear the bike when a good rider is clutching up, generally you wont hear them rev really high then dump, your just going to hear, vrrrrup. instead of yut-unngh.

so when u rev as u slip, you can still dump the clutch and it would lift upt progressively? the reason why I am asking is that skoh is saying that it is all about the clutch release.

Re: School me

the wheelie is all in the clutch, yes correct. The gas is what is going to determine how fast or slow the bike comes up, how high the rpms are when you release. It's just one of those things you get after time, a lot of seat time.

Re: School me

the shortcut is relative to how much seat time you can get in, really it's all it is. good luck

Re: School me

try 2nd gear one time. the bike will be less agressive when clutching it up. but you will go faster in the process.

Re: School me

you should go from no wheelie to bp in a flick of the wrist and a fast slip of the clutch.. not really a dump, one quick BRAAAAPPP
