F4i Air Scoops - Remove?

Hi peeps...

Looking for a little advice.
Just preparing my F4i over the winter months and wondered about the F4i air scoops or ram air whatever you call em these days.
I see alot of riders take them off all the way to the airbox, is this the best way or shall i leave them connected.
I just know they will get bashed up anyway, but wondered what you guys did.
Will it affect performance at all and is it worth sticking on some wire mesh to stop crap flying in. (i know the air filter will stop this but hey).

Cheers all.

I've always been told to run mine from the air box to the edge of the frame and cut them clean. I guess in theory it's not sucking all the hot air off the engine. seems to work for me and my f4I is not a bog monster like some complain.

Cheers for the reply Mike. Sounds like a plan. As long as they are flush with frame and tank looks good to me.
Whats everyone else running as...

Same for an '03 CBR? Those things make it a pain in my *** to put the fairings back on all clean.
