im havin the same problem with figuring out where to mount my gauges on my 05 r6. busted up my headlight the other day so i have to figure out headlight i want too

I have my **** mounted on the left side of the frame, one fat zip tie going around it, and two more through each hole of the gas tank grabing those plastic stubs on the gauge 
It on there pretty good, droped my bike a lot of time, looped it twice and bitch is still holding, lmk if you want pics or need more info.
