Was that a sarcastic comment? Or are you just trying to get him hurt? Or do you REALLY suggest people learn in 2nd gear?

If you are starting wheelies at 30mph, then your chances at wrecking at 40+ are very high..

If your starting wheelies at 10mph and riding them out to 30mph, you will NEVER hit the ground at 40+...

Keep it in 1st gear tell you can control it! 2nd will hurt you.. 1st you'll pick your bike up and ride away from it if you wreck..

true the speed might be a bit much but in 2nd the bike wont jump up as fast as it would in first ...i think just to get to know what its like to have the bike come up smooth feel like vs whack in 1st and scare the **** out of him...or flip him...

but every one learns diff....

I would think 1st gear wheelies would be better just for the engine brakeing. Just start around 4000rpms slipping the clutch and move up 1000 rpms each time. Once you get comfertable with that and can hold them for a while then I would try staggered.
