Ugh, Can anyone help a total idiot get the front wheel up?
what's goin on everyone.. checked out your wheelie sticky which was pretty helpful but I'm so frustrated right now. I haven't been riding very long, about 2 weeks, 500 miles on my 02 SV650s, just started to try and wheelie tonight. (probably isn't the best bike for stunting, but I just want to get my front wheel up a LITTLE bit.) Can anyone please give me some advice? I've tried to power it, accelerate to about 6k rpms, let off the throttle, then gun it to around 10k or pretty much as high as the rpms will go, as fast as they will get there. This doesn't get the wheel up at all, once about an inch but that was it.. So next I tried to clutch, went to about 5k rpm, clutch in, reved to about 8k and released-- my bike just kind of jerked forward. Do I need to rev higher? Am I releasing the clutch wrong? I noticed it said to do with 1 finger which I haven't tried yet-- maybe that will help.
Does anyone have any tips? Again I'm a total newbie at this, and I just want my wheel up like 6 inches, so I can work from there- not to interested in holding a stand up for a mile at 90mph.
thanks guys..

Here are some pictures of the bike.. not sure that it really matters. Only modifications are a custom fiberglass lower faring and some carbon fiber mirrors the previous owner put on it.. just got a new rear tire about 100 miles ago, and I changed the Oil and Cleaned the Chain yesterday.. about 5,700 miles, anyway I'll shut up I'm not trying to sell the damn thing.

dont attempt wheelies until u can at least ride ur bike to half of its potential.. just looking out for ur safety and they non-crashedness of ur bike haha.

and thanks for the advice.. would rather have two wheels on the ground then in a hospital bed I suppose.

they wont teach you how to wheelie, but they will teach you the basics. dont rush into things as you get more familiar with your bike, you will learn what it takes to get the front wheel in the air. from the sounds of things, you need to stick to just plain old riding and get some seat time before you even think about stunting.

verry good advice, take you time. its not worth wrecking ur bike to do a sqiud wheelie. ride a few more month and then repost !!
Re: Ugh, Can anyone help a total idiot get the front wheel up?
sv's don't have alot of top end so tryin to power it up near the rev limiter is not going to do anything for you go slow in first like 5mph rev to like 3500 and slip the clutch as you get to 3500 don't dump it.. and don't lean over the bike keep your arms extended just not locked..

man hes gonna kill himself tryin to get that front up..
my 2 cents is.. actualy kinda agreeing with stock.. Get as much riding time as you can.. then.. Get rid of the bike.. theres no point in modding it and trying to make it something its not (ie. new sprokets) Just ride it.. and if u want to wheelie.. get a different bike.. your not going to want to learn on that thing...
Honda F4i's and 600rrs are great.. so are suzuki GSXR's.. u get one of those bikes you wont be posting a thread like this!
